El pasado Domingo 16 de Noviembre de 2008, en la localidad de Tres Cantos en Madrid, en un espléndido día soleado de Otoño como pocos, se concentro una buena parte de la afición española del American Pit Bull Terrier, para celebrar el Campeonato de España de MARATHONPIT.

Last sunday, the 16th of november, a number of Spanish people fans of the American Pit bull Terrier gathered together in Tres Cantos (Madrid) in order to celebrate the Spanish Marathonpit Championship.

El Campeonato de España, ha sido organizado por la Federación Internacional del American Pit Bull Terrier (FIAPBT) y patrocinado por Villa Liberty kennels y Nestle Pet Care (Elite Nutrición), a los que agradecemos públicamente su apoyo y confianza con nosotros. También agradecemos a Oriol Lloria, por su ayuda en el patrocinio de este Campeonato de España.

La FIAPBT, agradece al Club “Lanzarote Team” de las Islas Canarias, al Club “Pit Master” de Cataluña, al Club “Melilla Team” de Melilla y al Club “Villa Liberty” de Madrid, por su apoyo en la organización del Campeonato de España.

The Spanish Championship, has been organized by the International American Pit Bull Terrier Federation (FIAPBT) and sponsored by Villa Liberty kennels and Nestle Pet Care (Elite Nutrition), to which we thank for the publicity, its support and trust placed on us. We also thank Oriol Lloria for his contribution to the organization of the Championship.

The FIAPBT thanks to the "Lanzarote Team" Club from Canary Islands, to the "Pit Masters" Club from Catalonia, to the "Melilla Team" Club from Melilla and to the "Villa Liberty" Club from Madrid, their support in the organization of this Championship of Spain.

El Circuito de la FIAPBT de Madrid ha sido bautizado como “Piernas y corazón de acero”. Este circuito esta considerado por los expertos, como un circuito extremadamente duro. Entre los corredores profesionales, este tipo de recorrido es conocido y denominado como “Rompepiernas” por su dureza y por sus fuertes cambios de ritmo constantes, un sube y baja, tan pronto se esta subiendo una pendiente con un desnivel descomunal como bajándola, muy similar a una montaña rusa. Es un circuito precioso de ver, en donde la dureza del mismo pone a prueba la casta y tenacidad de los participantes de dos y cuatro patas, lo que lo hace especialmente bello y emocionante para el espectador, los cuales se sitúan a lo largo de todo el trayecto del recorrido para ver más de cerca a los corredores y animarlos, como si de espectadores de un Rally se trataran. The FIAPBT´s Circuit of Madrid has been named as "Legs and steel heart". It´s considered by the experts as an extremely hard circuit. Between the professional runners, this type of circuit is known and denominated "breakslegs" for its hardness and for its strong constant changes of rate. It raises and lowers very often similar to a roller-coaster. It is a precious circuit to see, whose hardness tests the resistance and the tenacity of the two and four legged participants, and makes it especially beautiful and exciting for the audience, which are placed all along the circuit to see the runners and cheer them like in a Rally circuit.

Cada corredor compite ayudado de su compañero canino, el cual provisto de un arnés corre y tira del corredor (tipo perro de trineo) a través de una línea de tiro (cuerda elástica), que le une al corredor enganchada esta desde su arnés hasta un cinturón especial que lleva puesto el corredor y ambos, deben tener una compenetración bien definida para intentar conseguir un buen resultado en la carrera. Hay que decir, que el principal objetivo de este tipo de carreras, es el de disfrutar con tu compañero canino, del buen ambiente saludable que se crea alrededor de este tipo de competiciones, te rodeas de personas deportistas y amantes de los derechos de los animales, haces nuevos amigos, te ves con los compañeros que ya conocías, etc. Realmente impresionante.

Each runner competes helped by his canine partner, that is provided with a harness to run and pull of the runner (like a sleigh dog). Both dog and runner must understand each other in order to work well together and get a good result in the race. It is necessary to say, that the main objective of this type of races is to enjoy with your canine partner of the nice atmosphere that it is created, where you are part of a group of sporty people who love animals. I this way you can make new friends and meet friends already known. etc. Really awesome.

En la inscripción de los Campeonatos Oficiales del American Pit Bull Terrier, solo se admiten APBT de pura raza, o sea, con su pedigree Oficial (ADBA), el cual, se pide el original del mismo para su comprobación en el mismo día de la carrera. No se admiten fotocopias, tampoco pedigrees falsos o “pedigrees” de otras entidades no Oficiales por la Federación Internacional del APBT.

To enter the Official American Pit Bull Terrier Championships , only pure race APBT are admitted presenting the Official pedigree (ADBA). The original document is required the day the Championship takes place. Photocopies are not admitted, not pedigrees from non official organizations.by the International APBT Federation.

Esta manera de actuar de la FIAPBT, se debe principalmente para preservar la pureza de la raza, ante la gran cantidad de perros mestizos que son vendidos o regalados como puros APBT, evidentemente adquiridos sin el pedigree Oficial.

This way of acting of the FIAPBT, is mainly due to the necessity of preserving the purity of the breed, since there is a number of racially mixed dogs which are sold as pure APBT, without the Official pedigree.

En esta fotografía, podemos observar la línea de tiro (la cuerda que une al APBT con el corredor) totalmente tensa. La manera de trabajar de “Patches”, es tirando constantemente de Mariano para ayudarle a correr más deprisa. Esto requiere de un gran desgaste físico y psíquico para “Patches”, pero observando la cara de felicidad que tiene cuando ya estaba finalizando el Campeonato, nos podemos imaginar el sensacional aguante físico y psíquico que posee, ya que si por él hubiera sido, hubiera continuado bastantes kilómetros más realizando este Trabajo-Deporte como es el MarathonPit por este duro y agotador recorrido del circuito de la FIAPBT.

In this picture, we can note the cord line totally tense that joins the APBT with the runner. The way of working of "Patches", is continually pulling Mariano to help him to run more quickly. That requires a great physical and psychic effort from "Patches", but observing the happiness of his face when the Championship was ending, we can imagine his sensational physical and psychological endurance, since if he had been allowed, he would have continued much more kilometres doing this Work-Sport as is the MarathonPit .

A las 11.15 h, se dio el pistoletazo de salida para afrontar tres durísimos Kilómetros para una buena cantidad de corredores y corredoras con sus respectivos APBT. Durante toda la carrera estuvo muy disputada la primera posición, entre José Alberto con "Red Carver 6" (Zara) y Mariano con "Patches".

At 11.15 h started the race in which a number of runners and their APBT had to face up three extremely hard kilometres. First place was hardly competed by Jose Alberto with "Red Carver 6" (Zara) and Mariano with "Patches".

Mariano, inmediatamente después de llegar a meta, felicita a su compañero de equipo "Patches", por lo muy bien que ha trabajado tirando de él, demostrando una vez más su casta y clase para trabajar y realizar deportes.

Mariano congratulates to his teammate "Patches" immediately after the race, who has worked very hard pulling him, showing once again its great ability for practicing work and sports.

Finalmente cuando tan solo faltaban 500 metros para llegar a meta, Mariano y "Patches" realizaron un sprint impresionante que dejarían poco a poco rezagados a José Alberto y "Red Carver 6", consiguiendo de esta manera el Campeonato de España con un magnifico tiempo de 11 minutos y 32 segundos, 18 segundos de diferencia con respecto a los Subcampeones. El Campeonato de España se quedo en Madrid. Enhorabuena Campeones.

Finally when there were only 500 metres left to the finishing line, Mariano and "Patches" carried out an impressive sprint that would little by little increase the distance between them and Jose Alberto and "Red Carver 6", securing this way the Championship of Spain with a superb time of 11 minutes and 32 seconds, 18 seconds of difference with respect to the runners-up. The Championship of Spain remained in Madrid. Congratulations for the Champions.

Mariano reconoció no estar en su mejor estado de forma y que si no hubiera sido por el enorme esfuerzo que su compañero de equipo "Patches" realizo para avanzar más deprisa, llevándolo incluso en volandas, el resultado hubiera sido diferente sin lugar a dudas, el merito de la victoria fue de "Patches". Este animal demostró una vez más su casta y clase para trabajar y realizar duros esfuerzos prolongados, con lo que el titulo de Campeón de España conseguido en este día, lo tiene más que merecido. Felicidades "Patches", buen trabajo.

Mariano recognized not being in his better state of form and that if it had not been by the enormous effort that his teammate "Patches" realised the result would have been different without doubt. Patches had all the merit of the victory. This animal demonstrated its chaste once again and his aptitude to work and to realise hard prolonged efforts, and so the title of Champion of Spain obtained in this day has been totally deserved for him. Congratulations "Patches", good work.

"Patches" y Mariano del equipo Villa Liberty de Madrid, con un tiempo de 11 minutos y 32 segundos, pulverizaron el record anterior del circuito de la FIAPBT, habiéndose establecido en el año 2007 con un tiempo de 12 minutos y un segundo, el cual estaba en posesión de "Red Rosa" (Baby) y Carlos Sánchez (IronMan) de 25 años de edad, del equipo "Lanzarote Team" de las Palmas.

"Patches" and Mariano of the Villa Liberty team from Madrid, with a time of 11 minutes and 32 seconds, pulverized the previous record of the FIAPBT´s circuit, which was previously established in 2007 with a time of 12 minutes and 1 second, in possession of "Red Rosa" (Baby) and Carlos Sanchez (IronMan) of 25 years of age, of the "Lanzarote Team" team from Las Palmas.

"Red Carver 6" (Zara) y José Alberto (El Legionario) del equipo "Melilla Team", con un tiempo de 11 minutos y 50 segundos superando igualmente el record anterior del circuito, consiguiendo de esta manera la segunda mejor marca de la historia del circuito de la FIAPBT.

También estuvo muy disputado el último lugar del podio, entre Juan Miguel con “Boudreaux” (Garr) y Oriol Lloria con “Red Clara” (Tora). Fueron finalmente Juan Miguel Rodríguez con “Boudreaux” (Garr) del equipo “Lanzarote Team” de Las Palmas, con un tiempo de 13 minutos y 2 segundos, los que consiguieron subirse al último escalón del podio, clasificándose en tercera posición del Campeonato de España, una muy buena forma de cerrar la temporada 2008, sencillamente sensacional.

Also the last place of the podium was very much disputed, between Juan Miguel Rodriguez with “Boudreaux” (Garr) and Oriol Lloria with “Red Clara” (Tora). Was Juan Miguel Rodríguez with “Boudreaux” of the “Lanzarote Team” equipment from Las Palmas, with a time of 13 minutes and 2 seconds, those that were able to rise the last step of podium, classifying in third position of the Championship of Spain, a very good form to close the season 2008, simply sensational.

Oriol Lloria de 26 años y “Red Clara” (Tora), pese a quedarse en las puertas del Podio, realizaron un magnifico tiempo de 13 minutos y 58 segundos para completar la carrera, pasando a ostentar el sexto mejor tiempo de la historia del circuito de la FIAPBT, felicidades.

Oriol Lloria of 26 years old and “Red Clara” (Tora), in spite of remaining very near of the Podium, realised a superb time of 13 minutes and 58 seconds to complete the race, being happened to show the sixth better time of the history of the FIAPBT´s circuit, congratulations.

Miguel Rodríguez con “Odin” y Tere Jiménez con “Turbo”, entrando juntos a meta mostrando su gran satisfacción por haber conseguido terminar el duro circuito de la FIAPBT, no muchos corredores tienen agallas para correrlo.

“Turbo” y Tere del equipo Club “Pit Master” de Cataluña estuvieron soberbios, fueron los primeros clasificados en categoría femenina con un tiempo de 15 minutos y 32 segundos, logrando el record del circuito en dicha categoría. Felicidades a ambos.

La segunda posición de la categoría femenina estuvo muy disputada, finalmente y por tan solo 2 segundos de diferencia fue para “One Eye” (Panda) y Mar, representando al equipo “Villa Liberty” de Madrid.

The second position of the feminine category was very disputed, finally and by only 2 seconds of difference was for “One Eye” (Panda) and Mar, representing to “Villa Liberty” equipment from Madrid.

El tercer lugar fue para “Blue Eye” y Helen Haxner, representando al equipo de la “Federación APBT de Suecia”. Helen vino al Campeonato de España con la intención de aprender de la organización de la FIAPBT, ya que junto con un grupo de aficionados del APBT en su país, pronto organizaran su propio Campeonato en Suecia de MarathonPit, al que por supuesto intentaremos ir por todos los medios. Suerte Helen y animo.

The third place was for “Blue Eye” and Helen Haxner, representing to the “Sweden APBT Federation” equipment. Helen came to the Championship of Spain with the intention to learn of the organization of the FIAPBT, since along with a fans group of the APBT in his country, soon they would organize his own Championship in Sweden of MarathonPit, to which we will try to go by all means. Helen good luck and force.

La organización agradece a todos los participantes por sumarse al homenaje realizado a Red Pit, poniéndose la camiseta con su nombre y su fotografía dado su reciente fallecimiento con casi 15 años de edad.

Red Pit ha sido uno de los American Pit Bull Terrier que más ha llegado a la sociedad a través de los medios de comunicación por diferentes cuestiones, dando a conocer la raza canina a la que representa positivamente y defendiéndola con su ejemplo y manera de ser, actuando muy dignamente durante una década y media como abanderado del APBT entre otras tareas, en épocas muy malas para nuestra noble y maravillosa raza canina en las que nadie, quería coger esa bandera de la raza en España.

En la FIAPBT creemos firmemente, que para demostrar el amor por una raza hay que estar para lo bueno y para lo malo, como suele decirse “hay que estar a las duras y a las maduras”. Red Pit, todo un icono de la raza para muchos aficionados de varios países.

The organization thanks to all the participants to add to the realised tribute to Red Pit, being put itself the t-shirt with its name and its photography by his recent death with almost 15 years of age.

Red Pit has been one of the American Pit Bull Terrier that has arrived more at the society through mass media, giving to know its breed positively and defending it with its example and and way to be, acting with very much dignity during 15 years as representative of the flag of his breed among others tasks, in very bad times for our noble and wonderful breed dog in which nobody, wanted to raise the flag of the breed in Spain.

In the FIAPBT we create firmly, that for demonstrate the love by a breed dog is necessary to be for the good thing and the bad thing, as usually it is said “is necessary to be with the APBT in the good times and also in the bad times”. Red Pit, everything an icon of the breed for many fans of several countries.

Thank you Red Pit. R.I.P. (1994 --- + 2008).

Mariano Peinado también homenajeo a titulo particular a Red Pit, brindándole la victoria, ofreciéndole la Copa y también una placa preciosa de Reconocimiento que la Organización del Campeonato, el “Lanzarote Team” de Las Palmas, el “Club Pit Master” de Cataluña, el “Melilla Team” de Melilla y varios aficionados más del APBT de varios puntos de la geografía española, ofrecieron a Mariano en Reconocimiento al Gran trabajo, esfuerzo, dedicación y la defensa incansable hacia la raza canina American Pit Bull Terrier desde hace décadas.

Este reconocimiento es el que más cariño e ilusión le hace de todos los reconocimientos que le han otorgado en diferentes países y desde hace muchos años, estando muy agradecido a todos los que se lo han ofrecido, ya que es bastante difícil conseguir un reconocimiento de estas características en tu propio país, según palabras del propio Mariano.

This recognition is the one that more affection and illusion does to him of all recognitions which they have granted to him in different countries and for many years ago, being been him thankful to that they have offered it, since obtaining a recognition of these characteristics in your own country, is quite difficult, according to words of the own Mariano.

Todos los participantes, mostraron su satisfacción y agrado con la organización (FIAPBT) y en especial con las bolsas del corredor por su abundancia, trofeos y regalos para todos los participantes y también para sus respectivos compañeros, los APBT. También por la asistencia en carrera y post carrera para el corredor y su APBT, etc. etc. Además, la FIAPBT ofreció una comida gratuita para el corredor, sus acompañantes y el publico asistente, en donde todos pasamos un día inolvidable con nuestros perros y conociendo nuevos amigos en un ambiente muy saludable.

All the participants, showed their satisfaction and affability with the organization (FIAPBT) and in special with the bags of the runner by their abundance, trophies and gifts for all the participants and also for their respective dogs. Also by the attendance in race and post race for the runner and his APBT, etc. etc. In addition, the FIAPBT offered a gratuitous food type picnic for the runner, his companions and the fans in where we spent unforgettable day with our dogs and knowing new friends in an very healthful atmosphere.

El Campeonato de España 2008, ha sido un gran éxito en todos los sentidos, en donde la camaradería y el amor por una raza estuvieron patente durante toda la jornada. El próximo MarathonPit, se dará lugar en el Campeonato de Cataluña en el mes de Mayo el Domingo ( el 8 ó el 15) de 2009 y estará organizado por el “Club Pit Master” de Cataluña y homologado por la FIAPBT. Estas invitado a pasar ese día con todos nosotros, nos vemos en Barcelona.

The Championship of Spain 2008, has been a great success in all the senses, where the camaraderie and the love by a breed dog were clear during all the day. The next MarathonPit, will be in the Championship of Catalonia in the month of May of 2009 and will be organized by the “Pit Club Masters” of Catalonia and will be accredited by the FIAPBT. You are guest to spend that day with all us, see you in Barcelona.
